Artisan Care Instructions

How to Care for Your Stained Glass

Handcrafted stained glass is built to last for generations. Following these simple care steps will maintain the luminous clarity of the glass and the deep luster of the solder patina.

Cleaning Your Glass

Dust gently with a clean, dry microfiber cloth. If needed, moisten the cloth with distilled water. Never use ammonia, vinegar, or abrasive chemical cleaners (like standard Windex), as ammonia reacts chemically with solder and ruins the patina.

Preserving the Patina Luster

Every piece leaves our studio finished with pure carnauba wax. If your lead or solder lines appear dull after several years, apply a light coat of carnauba paste wax with a soft cotton rag, let it dry for 5 minutes, and buff gently.

Secure Hanging Guidelines

Always hang stained glass from sturdy screw hooks secured into solid wood window jambs, wall studs, or ceiling joists. Never use suction cups on window panes, as temperature fluctuations cause suction seals to fail over time.

Handling and Display

When lifting or moving large panels, hold the panel vertically by its outer metal frame with both hands. Avoid carrying large panels flat horizontally, which places undue bending stress across central solder joints.
